Winchester-Lite SPN Episode Timings
May. 27th, 2018 09:23 pmFinally tackled something I've been wanting to do for a few weeks now.
I took the 3 SPN episodes with the least amount of Sam & Dean and timed them. I wanted to know how little screen time the boys really had. Now the timings aren't exact, but I feel they're fairly accurate.
The results:
8x04 "Bitten" = 9 min 34 sec
9x20 "Bloodlines" = 9 min 2 sec
13x10 "Wayward Sisters" = 5 min 55 sec
Interesting how "Bitten" and "Bloodlines" have similar times, considering "Bloodlines" was the show's first spinoff attempt. And look how little screen times the boys had in "Wayward Sisters". However, what made it easier to deal with (IMO anyway) is that in WS we got to spend a lot of time with characters we already knew and were established. Whereas with "Bloodlines" we were given all new, unseen characters for most of the episode.
Anyway you look at it though...for most of these 3 episodes, the boys were barely there for those 42 minutes.

Taking another look at SPN's Pilot
Nov. 16th, 2017 05:26 amSo I'm trying to get a cap from 1x01 because
herminekurotowa requested my favorite cap from that ep for the Just 'Cause posts. Now I have done a full episode capping of the Pilot, but not Highlight Capping, so that's what I did overnight. Then I overcapped and I'm stuck with over 1,700 Pilot caps. Oy! I might have a simple solution though, but that's nothing for you all to worry about. I digress...
It was fascinating seeing the boys way back in 2005, all fresh-faced and young! No weariness, no hunched-shoulders from so much loss and pain and the passing of the years.
You know how you watch certain episodes so many times you think you know them so well that you'll never make new discoveries? Wrong! This little tidbit struck me as amusing..
DEAN: I can't do this alone.
SAM: Yes you can.
DEAN: Yeah, well, I don't want to.
And barely a minute later we have this exchange:
SAM: Dad let you go on a hunting trip by yourself?
DEAN: I'm twenty-six, dude.
First, Dean admits he doesn't want to hunt alone and then he takes offense when Sam points out that their dad let him hunt alone. Dude! Make up your mind! LOL
And I couldn't help but post this image to Twitter...
If you think of it, this paper clip was vitally important. If Dean hadn't used that paper clip to undo the handcuffs and get out of the police department, Sam probably would have been killed by Constance Welch's spirit/ghost. No series!
So always have a paper clip handy. You never know...

Cool 11x12 connection to the past
Feb. 17th, 2016 06:00 amWhile I was watching 11x12 I got to noticing the necklace Claire was wearing and thinking it looked familiar. Then last night I was Special Capping the first three episodes of Season 3 and sure enough, there it was...on Ruby!
And they think we won't notice these things! Ha!
It is a pretty necklace though. *g*

Parking Fail
Jul. 22nd, 2010 05:10 amI've got one little bit of fun to share from my Locations List hunting this evening/morning.
I was looking down this street in New Westminster (boy, have I gotten good at typing out that city name, btw) and I saw this and had to share it. :P
See what's spray painted on the building? See the parked cars? In fact, there were "No Parking" signs all along this narrow street....which was filled with...you guessed it...parked cars. *facepalms*

SPN S5 Rewatch: 5x01, 5x02, & 5x03
Jun. 6th, 2010 12:21 amSince the whole rewatching of S5 reruns failed as an idea over at my LJ comm
spn_westcoast, I thought I'd do something here on my own journal.
As I'm watching the reruns, I find myself noticing things I didn't with the original broadcasts. I don't have to pay so much attention to certain aspects because I know them and questions I never thought of before come to the forefront.
( Catching up with the first 3 episodes of S5... )

I love it when my filmmaking experiences help me notice things. :)
I capped 5x17 and caught an interesting little item that will one day show up in a future SPN Revealed post. But I couldn't wait, so I'm sharing it now. ;)

Olympic Observations
Mar. 1st, 2010 01:31 amThe Games are officially over now and while I'll miss them, I'll also enjoy having my life a little more back to normal. Phew! I don't usually watch that much TV day after day and night after night! :P
Since this is my last post on the Winter Games up in Vancouver BC, I'm taking the easy way out and using my Twitter posts instead. It's just easier. Note that I did indeed watch the Epic men's hockey game between the US and Canada. A little sad about the outcome, but the guys played a great game!
( Under the cut for those who don't wanna bother reading... )

Olympic Observations
Feb. 27th, 2010 10:50 pmA few more thoughts as the Winter Olympics wind down...
♦ I liked the alpine events...for the first few days, but now? *yawn*
♦ Ski Cross was pretty darned exciting though. ;)
♦ Loved the Ice Dancing competition even more than the Pairs comp. Somehow the Pairs was boring and it looked like everyone was skating the same routine. In Ice Dancing there was much more room for creativity (despite the new rules) and it showed. Proud of Canada and the US for earning Gold and Silver.
♦ Watching Joannie Rochette skate was something special. So much grace under unbelievable pressure and loss.
♦ Kim Yu-Na was beautiful. In fact, most of the women were. Great to see everyone do their best and I was happy with the results.
( More behind the cut 'cause it's a little long... )

Olympic Observations
Feb. 17th, 2010 10:42 pmMore thinky thoughts, observations & opinions while watching the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.
♦ How do Luge athletes breathe when they put on that face-mask? It looks so close-fitting all the way around.
♦ Why does the Speed Skating starter guy have such a long, drawn out "Reeeeaaaady"? It's annoying.
♦ It sucks that NBC doesn't show any of the Curling competition. I like curling. *sigh*
♦ I still can't believe I'm in the same time zone as the Olympics and have to watch it on a friggin' tape delay! Uuummm....What????? This is so wrong!
♦ Watching the pairs Figure Skating competition, I was struck by the sameness between all the routines, especially in the Long Program. This is the result of the change in judging rules and I gotta say, I don't like it. There's no freedom for creativity anymore.
♦ Another observation on Figure Skating. It's weird to see skaters I grew up watching who are now coaches and choreographers. I must be getting old.
♦ So tired of seeing the same commercials during Olympics coverage....over and over and over.... And it's only day six. Ugh.
Okay, so this list was a little more ranty than the other one. *shrugs*

Olympic Observations
Feb. 16th, 2010 09:56 pmBeen watching the Winter Olympics from Vancouver since the Opening Ceremonies on Friday night. Thought I'd share some thoughts & observations thus far...
♦ Enjoyed the job Vancouver did with the Opening Ceremonies. It didn't have the awe-struck effect that the Beijing Olympics did, but there were some lovely and beautiful moments.
♦ Love watching Apolo Ohno! Hometown boy! Woot! And J.R. Celski, too! He lives just to the south of me!
♦ It's great to see aerial shots of Vancouver on NBC's broadcast and being able to identify what part of the city I'm seeing.
♦ So happy Canada finally won a gold medal on their home soil!
♦ Is it just me? Or do the outfits for the U.S. Mogul skiers look like blue pajamas?
♦ Wonderful to see Shen and Zhao finally win their Gold Medal in Pairs Figure Skating for China. Well deserved and beautifully skated.
♦ I know Plushenko is great at the jumps, but as far as being artistic goes he's sorely lacking. All he does is flail his arms about (and not to the music). Where's the choreography? Skating's not just about the jumps.
♦ Snowboard Cross. So exciting, so fun, so unpredictable. I love it!
Awesome Hi-Res Photos of the Olympics from The LA Times. Beautiful!!!

4x11 Family Remains - Initial Thoughts
Jan. 16th, 2009 05:53 amThis is not to be confused with my First Impressions, which will be posted sometime over the weekend if all goes well. I just want to get some of my gut-reaction thoughts down.

Jerry Wanek Strikes Again
Dec. 3rd, 2008 02:49 amI was finishing up capping Dark Angel's "Blah Blah Woof Woof" from S1 and spotted a familiar name. :)

4x10 Final Scene - Camera Analysis
Dec. 2nd, 2008 01:51 pmWhile I was making my First Impressions post for this eppy, I got to taking a critical look at the final scene. I took a filmmaking view of it, 'cause I'm geeky that way ;), and determined how I think they filmed it. You gain a whole new level of appreciation of Jensen's acting skills when you realize how this was done.

Winchesters aren't the only fast healers
Nov. 24th, 2008 11:33 pmI'm watching an eppy of Simon & Simon (my other favorite TV series about 2 brothers *g*) and they were beat up by the bad guys. A lot of the fight happens off camera, btw. So once their mom finds them, the room is a shambles and they're on opposite sides of the room and almost buried by furniture. But get this...neither one has a scratch or even a bruise!
Guess that Magic Healing Cream has been around for a long time on TV. TeeHee! :P

A few observations about 4x02
Oct. 2nd, 2008 03:26 pmAfter capping 4x02 extensively yesterday, I made note of a few things. Think of this as a mini-SPN Revealed Lite. :)
::: At the beginning of the episode, when Bobby says that only an angel could have pulled him from hell, Dean guardedly puts his hand on his shoulder with the handprint. Nice little touch by Jensen.
::: When the brothers enter Bobby's panic room there's a cool POV shot. If you'll notice it's Dean's POV, since he's the one who enters first.
