We've all heard the awesome news about SPN getting picked up for a 6th season. Yay!!!!! :D
What could possibly ruin this news?
Fandom panicking over this other piece of news today...
From Ausiello: Eric Kripke Stepping down as ShowrunnerA lot of fans are reading this to mean that the show is going to drastically change with Sera Gamble now in "charge". It'll all be about Sam taking his clothes off and the boys being emo all the time. *facepalms* Yeah, in our dreams maybe. I highly doubt we'll even notice the change. Why?
Did you read this tidbit from the article?
But, and this is a big but, Kripke will remain actively involved in the show — and not just in name only. Although CW and Warner Bros. reps declined to comment, a Supernatural insider assures me that Kripke and his current co-showrunner, Robert Singer, will continue to function as hands-on executive producers.
“Eric and Bob will be working very closely with Sera,” says the source. “They are not abandoning the show.”Did you hear that? "Not abandoning" Kripke will still be involved in the show. Honestly, I think this is a contractual thing. Since his contract ended with this season, he probably had to step down in some capacity to work out a new deal with WB. It's just my guess, anyway.
And do you realize that a TV show is not run by one man alone? It takes a small army of people...the same people who've been working on it from day one. They'll still be there, making the many decisions we never know about, but only see the results of. We give a lot of credit to Kripke for all the episodes we watch and enjoy, but each one of those hours is the end product of many people who create it. It's writers, producers, directors, and even the actors, along with countless other people all working together as a team that makes SPN what it is.
All I'm saying is....don't jump ship just because the captain isn't going to be steering all the time. We'll have a new captain who's been on deck the whole time. There are plenty of other good people who will keep the ship afloat like they've been doing all 5 seasons. Remember, Bob Singer will still be there, and Kripke's still going to be around to add his input. This just gives him some freedom to work on some other things.
And let's face it....we don't know what's going to happen until we see the episodes on the screen. ;)
