Happy 4th of July!

And just because I felt like it, here's a little patriotic musical gem. Btw, it's one of our old 45 rpm records that I've cleaned up digitally (one of many little projects I'm currently working on).

A little about my own connection to this song behind the cut. )
Summer weather is here!!! I'm so happy. It's a beautiful day, even though it's a little warm for Washington (80s) and it's going to be a lovely night. Perfect for fireworks. I look forward to seeing the little shows in my own neighborhood as people fire off their own. Last year was really spectacular. This time I'm going to try to videotape some of them.

So Happy 4th to all! Have a fun and safe holiday!

I was just looking through my copy of "Leo Laporte's 2006 Technology Almanac", looking for websites to look up, when I found this interesting bit of trivia under July 19th...

"On This Day: Samuel Colt Born (1814)
Samuel Colt was born on this day in 1814; he died on January 10, 1862. Colt was an American firearms manufacturer who popularized the Colt 45 revolver and other guns. The Colt factory was one of the most innovative in its use of mass-production techniques and still manufactures some of the finest American firearms available, including the now legendary Colt .45-caliber handgun."

And who do we know was also born on July 19th? One Jared Padalecki, of course!

How about that for interesting trivia?
