Five days...that's not long to wait

I'm on my way to bed, but thought I'd make a little quickie post.

* Had some annoying internet connection problems after Thursday's SPN episode. Grrrr. I missed out squeeing with everyone! *pouts* :( Thankfully it's working now. *crosses fingers*

* Just a little cool tidbit about Thursday night...On my way to pick up supper before the episode aired, I was going through the radio stations in the car and came across one playing "Back In Black" by AC/DC. How fitting with our boys returning to the screen at long last! *g*

* I hope to be posting my First Impressions post for 3.09 very soon, along with my usual 2 b&w cropped caps of Sam & Dean!

* I did make caps from the episode last night (since I couldn't get online - heh) and if you'd like to see at least 5 caps of Dean from the last scene, go check out Trystan's post. I gave her the caps along with 2 from the promo that she requested the other night. :)

* This just makes me smile! The new countdown clock is up and running! I blacked out the title just in case. :)

A whole new level of frustration

Grrrrrrrr!

I've always said technology is great...when it works.

Right now my internet (Clearwire) is being all wonky on me. Especially on my desktop computer. It was running fine Thursday night before SPN. I turned the computer off and switched to my MacBook Pro laptop to watch the program and chat online out in the living room. After the program, I went back to my room, turned on the desktop, hooked up the Clearwire modem....nothing. No network detection. What the frell???? I tried disconnecting and reconnecting both the modem and the power to the modem...nothing. Tried moving the modem, even though it indicated it was getting a good signal. No change. I waited a while, hoping it would somehow come back because there's been a few times that Clearwire's gone out for a few hours. It didn't come back. Long story/short - I ended up hooking the modem up to my laptop to get online, but even then it was very tempermental.

On Friday night I was able to get it to work with the laptop again although at first I didn't think it was going to work. Then today I hooked the modem back up to the desktop and again couldn't get the computer to recognize it. Tried moving the modem around, unplugging/plugging back in. I even tried to turn off my firewall and tweak the network connections settings in Vista. No dice. So I ended up calling Clearwire and spent 2 hours with a tech guy to try and figure out the problem. He worked me through all sorts of things, but nothing was working. He ended up having me hook it up to the the laptop again just to confirm that the problem is clearly with the desktop and not the Clearwire modem. Sure enough, on the laptop it was fine. He apologized for not being able to find the problem and suggested I take the desktop back to Best Buy where I bought it. Oh, joy.

After I hung up with him, I again had some trouble with the internet connection, but on the laptop. I unplugged and plugged in the ethernet cable and then it came back up. So I'm wondering if maybe the cable is bad. Some wire in the cable is somehow not always making a connection, perhaps. And replacing an Ethernet cable is far easier than packing up my desktop to take it back to the store! So the plan right now is to buy a new Ethernet cable and see if that solves the problem. I really don't want to return the computer to the store. What a chore! I've got several other things I'll try before I do that. It's the last resort.

So not a terribly fun day so far. I guess I should be happy I've got internet at all, even if it's on the laptop only. It's just a tad inconvenient though. I want to have internet for the desktop too. Bah. Darned technology.

So just in case this problem gets worse and I don't make any posts or am not around for a few days, you'll know what's up. *sigh* I hope I can solve this with an easy cable replacement. *knocks on wood*
