Sunday afternoon the already overcast sky took on an orangey glow as smoke from wildfires up in British Columbia, Canada came down into the Puget Sound area. By sunset, the sun turned a brilliant red and while me, my mom, and aunt were on our way home on the freeway, we raced home to pick up my camera gear, and then dashed over to the Des Moines Marina so I could get some photos.

It was an amazing sight with the sun going behind the Olympic Mountains and there were lots of other people at the marina taking pictures. In fact, we almost couldn't find a place to park! But I got my pics and I'm so happy. It's not every day that you see a sunset like this one. The red color on the water was incredible!

Once the sun set, there were lovely pink sun rays coming from the horizon and I captured those too.

A long Sunday is over. At least I have Monday to rest/relax. Sorry I'm not keeping up as well as I should. It's real life stuff that's keeping me busy, folks. That, and the Locations List because I need to get it all done before the end of the month for VanCon. Time for some sleep. Have a good Monday everyone. *hugs*

I finally have a working Safari web browser on my MacBook Pro again!

Ever since the upgrade a couple of months ago, Safari had been crashing on me upon launching. Soooo frustrating! I did numerous searches about the problem online and found out a lot of others had the same issue. At first I suspected the add-on Glims, but after trying to upgrade it, then uninstall it, Safari still would crash.

Overnight, Apple prompted me to upgrade Safari again. So I did...hoping this upgrade would fix things. It didn't. Gah! So I went in search of the problem yet again. Tried some things mentioned in some Mac forums without success. Then one said to remove the SIMBL folder, which I did. Safari now launches!

I just hope it continues to work. I missed Safari. Firefox is nice, but it's still kind of a memory hog, especially on my MacBook Pro and while I installed Google Chrome, I found it works better on my PC. On the Mac, Chrome gets sluggish if there's any animated gifs....like in my LJ sidebar. Very frustrating. So I've been bouncing back & forth from Firefox and Chrome on the Mac during my Safari problem. Safari might not be pretty with fancy themes & stuff, but it's fast and (up until this upgrade) very reliable. Here's hoping this crash problem is finally solved!

You'll allow me to toot my own horn for a bit, right?

Those pretty sunset pics I took last night? I posted one on Twitter and then sent the Tweet to one of our local TV stations, KING 5, since they were asking for viewers to submit their pics of the fiery sunset. I immediately got a message back from the station's Twitter, saying "Wow" and asking if I'd like to post it to their website. I did and early this morning, my pic was one of 3 that made it on the news broadcast!

Mine's the 3rd (last) one shown. ;) They showed it again on the noon news today. Cool! :D

You can also see my pic here among others that were submitted. I'm val613. ;)

I'm taking a nostalgic look back at some favorite songs from my teenage years. Most of these are late 80s - early 90s songs.

I still love listening to this song by Elisa Fiorillo. It's kind of empowering IMO. "This is my world, and I'm sorry, but this table is reserved." I still have this video on one of my old Beta videotapes. ;)

Sadly, the song's not on Grooveshark (or anywhere else that I can find online), so here's my mp3 of the song:

I tell ya...this getting back to walking bit its tough! Oooph! :P
I haven't walked since June 23rd and I sure felt how out of shape I am now compared to then. :( But I've gotta get myself somewhat back on track so I can handle the walking for VanCon. It's a warm day, but not too hot (in the low 70s). Could've done with a bit more of a breeze, but it was okay. At first, I thought I was going to have to quit after only one loop, but I started to feel better and I kept going until my near half hour was up. Left leg protested as it always does, but even after a while it quit. Took the big loop (no hill) and then the medium loop through our neighborhood. At least I was able to keep going and I didn't cough once! Yay! I've still got that stubborn tickle in the back of my throat that makes me cough from being sick a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping I beat that into submission by VanCon as well as my weight. I know I don't have much time, but I'm going to try to eat a little less to help perpetuate the weight loss. I realize that I won't get as slim as I wanted to be by this time, but I've gotta try to lose whatever I can. Even losing 5 pounds would be acceptable. *hopes* Wish me luck, gang! I'm gonna need it.
