It's officially Monday here on the west coast and I'm itching to post this. *g*
Little known fact about me...I love Sam Cooke's music. :)
My parents brought me up on Patti Page's version of this song, but me? I like this one better! Ha! You can groove to this one! *dances* Enjoy! :D
Here's the song on Grooveshark if you can't view the video (or want to hear the original studio version):
As a bonus, here's another of my favorite songs by Sam Cooke.

Haven't done one of these posts in a while, but I just had a moment and felt the need to share.
My dad and I often shared tastes in music. We would swap music tracks or albums back and forth, and even talk about them. It's different with my mom and I. I'll listen to her music, but she very rarely will stand for any of mine. In this respect my dad and I were closer.
This song came on my music player just now and for some reason I thought of him. I think he would've liked this song, this group, even though he died before they came on the scene. I guess it just hit me that I can't talk to him about music anymore. That and his birthday is coming up near the end of August. Getting a little tearful just thinking about it all.
Five years without him.
I miss you, Daddy. This one's for you. ♥

Music Monday: Bee Gees Songs
May. 30th, 2011 04:40 amA couple of weeks ago I mentioned that there are certain Bee Gees songs that I equate with Jensen Ackles. This probably came about a couple of years ago one summer when I was searching through my folder of Jensen pics while listening to the Bee Gees. Somehow they clicked for me.
Anyway,
meesasometimes left me a comment wanting to know what my Bee Gees songs were regarding Jensen, so I've put a little playlist together on Grooveshark. There's 7 songs here. Enjoy! ;)
Anyway,

For this week's post I fired up the Favorites over at Grooveshark, put it on shuffle and decided to post the first song that played.
This is a beautiful song (as all of the songs by this group are) and I equated it a lot with the Season 5 storyline of SPN. Apocalypse, death, end of times, all that is here, along with the longing to be home at the end of your life.
I have this song if anyone wants the download. Just let me know. ;)

Music Monday: "Maybe" by Jesse Cook
May. 16th, 2011 02:32 amPlease indulge my fangirly ways a bit here... ;)
Do you ever hear a song that makes you think of a certain person or a TV show, even though most people wouldn't make that connection?
I have songs that make me think of Jensen Ackles. I know, crazy, right? I'm probably the only one who does this. There are certain Bee Gees songs that I equate with Jensen...don't ask me to explain why, they just fit in my opinion.
The same goes with this song by Jesse Cook. It's the lyrics. Check it out...

Music Monday: "Skinny Love" by Birdy
May. 9th, 2011 03:10 amI keep asking myself why I go on with these posts. Seems nobody cares about my music tastes except for me. Meh. Oh, well.
I fell head over heels in love with this song after hearing it used in last week's The Vampire Diaries. So beautiful. Delicate yet powerful. Amazing that she's only 14 years old. And, yes...I know this is a cover. I've heard the original and you know what? I like this version much better.
The video is very nicely done as well. :)

I happened to be listening to music from a certain folder on my PC while I wrap things up online & came across this gem of a song. I grew up listening to The Mills Brothers and this song has always been one of my all-time favorites. It's sooo beautiful, gentle, sweet, and has some the best harmonies you'll hear anywhere.
Hopeful, wistful, maybe a little sad, but like a lullaby...I give you "Yellow Bird"...
Grooveshark has the original recording:

Missed a couple of weeks, but I knew what song I wanted to post this time a couple of days ago. :)
This song's been on my Grooveshark's Favorites list for a while now and why I haven't posted it here to LJ before now, I have no idea. Was listening to it the other day and realized what an awesome match it is for SPN. It just fits the boys & their lifestyle IMO. If I was still making music vids, I'd make one for this song.

Time for another Music Monday post (remember these?) and I thought this song would be very appropriate as 2010 winds down and we start looking forward to the New Year. A very sad and bluesy song to close out the year and one I can relate to.
Enjoy the youtube vid or the Grooveshark player version of the song.

Music Monday: NKOTB & BSB on AMA
Nov. 22nd, 2010 03:08 pmA little late with today's post, but that's the way things go.
I didn't watch the AMA last night, but I sure read about this standout performance by NKOTB & BSB! I was a huge NKOTB fan back in the day, going to several concerts, meeting their parents, and with my bedroom walls covered with their pictures from floor to ceiling. I'm a lesser fan of BSB, though I do have their greatest hits album from several years ago. I like some of their songs, including the 2 they performed last night.
These 2 groups make a great pairing! Woot! :D

Another recent music find. I haven't heard any of the other songs by this group, but I really like this one. I won't embed the music video for the song because most of you won't be able to see it, but if you do, it's pretty cool and the lead singer looks so much like Kevin Spacey. lol

Music Monday: "Shine" by Take That
Nov. 1st, 2010 06:05 pmSorry I'm late with this today. Was gone most of the day.
Since I'm in a rush, I fired up Grooveshark, pulled up my Favorites, put them on shuffle and decided to post the first song that started playing. This was it. Love that line about not letting the demons pull you down. Very positive, upbeat song.
If you can watch the video, it's a nice little homage to the Busby Berkley movies of the 1930s. :)
Here's the song on the Grooveshark player, too.

Sorry I missed posting music last week. Totally slipped my mind until about mid-week. :P
Feelin' a little mellow, so I thought I'd share a Michael Buble' song. He is one of my favorite singers and I know I'm not the only one who has him on their playlists. ;)
As always, if you want the download of this song, just let me know. :)
