The New Kids On The Block got a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Wow. :D

Yep, I'm a Blockhead. Actually, back when I was a fan in the 80s and 90s, I don't even recall the fans had a name for themselves, but then that was a long time ago. I went to several concerts, was a member of their fan club, and had my bedroom decorated floor to ceiling (no joke) with their pictures and posters. I still have it all stored away, including my coveted NKOTB jacket which I wore in high school, despite the teasing I got.

So proud that the boys got this recognition. A great ceremony, too with Arsenio Hall there to show his love and support. Oh, oh, oh, oooh, oh. :)

I'm wrapping up this 2 week look at NKOTB with this more recent video from a concert in Dallas, TX.

Love how they still used some steps from the original music video in there. :D
Hope you've enjoyed this look back at one of my favorite bands.

I'm doubling up on videos today, 'cause I wanna wrap this all up on Sunday. Not sure anyone's even looking at these anymore. Hasn't been any comments in a while.

I remember this Coca-Cola ad very clearly. Pretty sure I put in on a videotape like 5 times in a row so I wouldn't have to keep backing up the tape. :P The music video for "If You Go Away" is notable because it was the last big hit for the group before they disbanded. :(

Remember the original album version of this song? It was good, but that was about it. Then they did this version on the remix album and...wow. A good song became great! :D

This is the last video through VEVO. I have no idea if anyone's having trouble viewing them or not. I only know people outside of the US have in the past. Sorry if that is still the case.

Another favorite song from the "Step By Step" album. :)

Sorry, again for this being from VEVO. It's the only version of the music video out there on youtube. Everything else is concert performances. I hope at least some of you can watch it.

raloria: (Default)
I still think this is one of their best music videos. :)

Sorry for the late post...and for this being through VEVO only. I know people in some countries can't view these and I do apologize, but it's the only place where I could find the official music video online.

Remember the big lip-synching controversy the group faced in the early 1992? They appeared on Arsenio's show again to set the record straight.

Presenting both parts of the program including the opening medley performance.

NKOTB Week II! Ah, the good old days... Arsenio rocked didn't he?
I remember this performance very well. :)

I've got 2 videos to share today. Not sure everyone will be able to view the 2nd one. Sorry.

This NKOTB concert at the Kingdome in Seattle was my first back in the summer of 1990. I still remember how incredibly loud it was in there! My ears didn't stop ringing for hours after my dad and I got home. I know I have both of these news reports on a tape somewhere. ;)

raloria: (Default)
This is still one of my favorite songs and videos by the group. :D

Time for a music video! Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!!! :D

New Kids perform at the 1991 American Music Awards.

I guess a young J. Lo is one of the dancers at the beginning (the one in the ponytail?).

I don't actually remember this performance at the Super Bowl in 1991, but that was a long time ago and my old videotapes are buried in a box somewhere. Heh.

Someone left a comment on another post of the video on youtube that provides an explanation of why I (and some others) don't remember this:

you might not remember it because it wasn't shown live in most of America because the Persian Gulf war had just started a few days prior, and most stations went to a report of the war instead of showing halftime.

Another look back at 1990 with the New Kids performing at the American Music Awards. I remember that year's awards show as being particularly memorable with performances by Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson.

I have this performance on a videotape somewhere as well. Gotta love those jackets...and the big hair. lol
I'm pretty sure I posted this video before, but...meh, who cares? :P

About a month ago I did some looking around on youtube...you know, how you do. *g* Got caught up in watching a bunch of NKOTB videos and feeling all nostalgic. Yeah, I was a huge fan back in the day. I went to several concerts, joined their fanclub, bought merchandise & CDs, & still have all the memorabilia to prove it.

I started bookmarking a bunch of the videos and thought I'd take a couple of weeks to post them here. I know there's a few New Kids fans out there that'll appreciate this stuff. For the rest of you? Well, feel free to skip past these posts.

We begin with a video from 1990 when the group at the height of their popularity. I still have this on a videotape somewhere. ;)

Had no clue that Jonathan Knight of NKOTB was gay.

New Kid on the Block Jonathan Knight not 'outed' by Tiffany, he says

According to the article he's been out for some 20 years now. I feel like I should turn in my NKOTB fan card. Here he was, my favorite member of the group since they came on the scene in the late 80s and I didn't know this.

Another teenage fantasy shattered. *le sigh*
And I'm not being homophobic here, it's just that in high school well....a girl has dreams, you know? Even if they're unrealistic. :P

A little late with today's post, but that's the way things go.

I didn't watch the AMA last night, but I sure read about this standout performance by NKOTB & BSB! I was a huge NKOTB fan back in the day, going to several concerts, meeting their parents, and with my bedroom walls covered with their pictures from floor to ceiling. I'm a lesser fan of BSB, though I do have their greatest hits album from several years ago. I like some of their songs, including the 2 they performed last night.

These 2 groups make a great pairing! Woot! :D

Been a few weeks since I've done one of these. Time to get back on schedule again. ;)

Just have a video today of NKOTB on the 1990 American Music Awards. I'll always remember the summer of 1990 as a magical time. It was the height of my NKOTB obsession and I was riding high on their music, concerts, products, the animated TV series...all of it! I certainly wasn't the most popular gal in high school because of my love for these 5 guys from Boston, but I wore my NKOTB jacket with pride and didn't care about the naysayers.

Got lots of little things to talk about, so it's random ramble time. :)

I was watching Merv Griffith's Crossword game show the other day and they had "boyishly adorable" as a clue. The word? Cute. So naturally, I thought of the guy in the cap below. :D

Boyishly Adorable = Cute || Cute + Boyishly Adorable = Jensen Ackles

Long ramble - enter if you dare! Heehee! )

I was going to post this a lot sooner and totally forgot. D'oh! :P

Heads-up to my fellow New Kids fans!

NKOTB are going to be on "The Today Show" (NBC) this morning (Monday, Sept. 1st)!!!!!
In my area, it starts at 7 a.m., but check your local listings. Wonder what they'll sing this time? Whoo-hoo!

On a sadder note....no SPN this week, not even a rerun.
