Cap Preview: IMTOD

raloriaMy capping mojo is working! Some days the capping flows easily and other days...it's a struggle to get anything to come out good and in focus. Today was one of my better days and I can barely contain my excitement! My little test today means good things! :D

I've decided upon a new approach to my SPN screencaps, now that I'm officially capping S2. Before, I would have capped the episodes (as I did with all of S1) on the PC, using AVS DVD Player. It's a fine media player and has served me well, but it has some limitations, mostly being that it makes caps in the set size of 720 x 480 and it has no image controls for the player. Since updating my version of the VLC Player on my Mac, I've been impressed with the improvements. It's been making great caps from the DVD sets and I don't have to re-adjust the size because the caps come out at 853 x 480 (as they should be from a DVD at widescreen), and with the image controls set I no longer have to worry about super dark caps right out of the player.
So I spent a fair amount of time today, capping IMTOD on my Mac with VLC. And by time....I mean several hours. But I've gotta say, it was worth it for some of the amazing caps I was getting. A lot of the best ones took A LOT OF WORK to get. I was repeatedly backing up a few seconds to keep trying to get that perfect image that I knew was there if I could just get the timing right on the pause button. For the most part, my persistence paid off. So even though I spent a lot of time to get over 800 caps from one episode, the ones I got are sharp and fairly bright. I still need to do a final sort, rename/number, and then tweak them a little on the PC.
The idea I have, to speed things up a bit...is to simultaneously cap Seasons 2 & 3. Cap the 1st episode of both seasons, then the second, and so on. This way, I should have more caps to choose from for my Just 'Cause posts a lot sooner.
Anyway, I thought I'd share 10 of my top choices from the batch. Most of these are those special ones. The moment that's only on the screen for a second or two that you would probably miss while watching. I've shrunk them down only a little, but other than that I haven't changed them in any way and they're still in the png format right out of VLC (which is why they might load a little slow).
