Here's the last 2 Karaoke videos.
Our last surprise guest was Osric Chau!!! He didn't sing a song though...no, he had a song sung to him! Btw, if you watch the first video you'll notice some major camera shake and black screen in the middle. Well, that's because Jason Manns started going though Osric's backpack and pulled out a pair of grey underwear. Which he then rolled up and tossed into the crowd - and right at me! Amazingly, I caught them with my left hand (I was holding my camera in the right hand). I didn't even think about it. It was just a gut reaction to reach out and catch them. I quickly looked around to see if anyone wanted to take the garment off my hands and a gal next to me eagerly took them. But then almost immediately, a gal approached us (I'm assuming she was a Creation volunteer) and took the underwear away. So yeah, I caught the underwear....hope they were clean. LOL

And of course, you can't have Karaoke without singing the show's unofficial theme song at the end. Seemed a little odd that they didn't invite the Creation volunteers onto the stage as they usually do. Maybe because they're paid now? Anyway, singing that song with the cast and fellow fans is always such a magical moment. :D

These were taken with my smaller Canon camera and are not the greatest quality. My normal practice is to take a few shots with this camera at the beginning of each panel and then switch to my bigger Canon camera for the rest. I did no editing at all on these, they're simply presented "as is". Hopefully, you'll still find these pics enjoyable despite the light/contrast or blurriness issues. :)

I don't normally take photos during Karaoke, preferring to shoot video instead, but I did snap a few photos at the beginning and then of the group hug for Osric!

Gotta type this all out now before I forget anything. Sure, it's only 1 in the morning, but this is important!

Rich and Rob kicked things off in their usual hilarious style, with Rich saying Canada is a city. :P
Kinda missed the old Rules & Regulation song, but I guess there's so many now that it would take too long to sing? Our first guests were Alaina Huffman and Gil McKinney. Great to see these two beautiful people on stage.

Right after their panel I got a photo-op with Alaina & Gil and wouldn't you know...Gil remembered me yet again! Even with him not being at last year's VanCon! Amazing! He must really have a memory for people. So that was pretty sweet. I chose to get my solo photo-op with Gil on Saturday (spreading out the Gil love *g*).

Next was another enjoyable Quoncert with Jason Manns. He answered a few questions, but mostly sang songs. I got most of them on video, including part of the song he sang with Rob Benedict at the start of the panel. Oh! And they sang "Hallelujah" at the end. Gorgeous!!!! :D

Then we had a nice panel with the lovely Samantha Smith (so happy Mary's still alive - and kicking ass in the Alt Universe).

Then they had a Stump The Experts game and the first question was about Bugs - What was the name of the housing development? The experts didn't know, but I did - Oasis Plains! I got it right and was the first to choose from the table of merchandise they had set out! I picked out a SPN red cup and a cool canvas bag. Free goodies!!!! :D

The last panel of the day was with our new guest, Emily Swallow and favorite, Briana Buckmaster. So much fun! I also got a photo-op with Emily.

Then it was time for autographs. Gold got 5: Rich, Samantha, Emily, Alaina, and Briana.
I asked Rich about the location for that slow walking shot from his ep "Stuck in the Middle (With You)" and he couldn't really remember, but he did inform me that the house was built by the production (which I didn't know) and the interiors were on the soundstage (which I did know). He thought it was all filmed by a college and a lake, but couldn't place it and suggested I ask Location Manager, Russ Hamilton, if he shows up this weekend. Then Rich said he was curious himself where it was filmed at! I understood it was asking a bit for him to remember, since it was many months ago and thanked him anyway.

With Samantha, I brought up my disappointment that Mary never baked Dean a pie when he was a child. It kinda burst my bubble to learn that last season. She said Mary just didn't have the time. lol

I asked Emily what it was like to wear that black dress all the time. She said at least she didn't have to go in for a bunch of costume fittings, though it did get uncomfortable in the cold weather, but she liked having a nice dress to wear the entire time.

I mentioned to Alaina that Abaddon should totally be brought back in the Alternate Universe and she, of course, agreed. :)

I thanked Briana (and Kim) for their Facebook videos and that I hoped they'd be doing more. She thanked me and said they do hope to film more of them, but they're just a little overwhelmed with work (on the SPN spinoff) but that they'd definitely do more of them in the future. :)

Autos done, I had a chance for a quick supper before heading back for Karaoke!
I'll admit, things started a little slow, but they really picked up at the end. We got a lot of surprise guests: Rich's "Band Of Brothers" actors, the guy who played Ramiel, Carrie Genzel, Erica Carroll, Rick Worthy, Guy Bee, and Osric Chau! When Rich brought Osric out, he had a backpack with him and Rich decided we'd sing the song "Sweet Caroline" but instead sing "Sweet Osric Chau". So we did! And then Emily and Jason started going through Osric's backpack...and they found some underwear....which Jason balled up and then tossed into the crowd...and I caught them! LOL It was a freak one-handed catch, as I was filming video with my camera. I handed them over to a gal standing next to me, but another gal (assuming she was volunteer) quickly came to retrieve the grey pair of undies. Ah, well...as the gal next to me said, at least we got to touch them. :P

Crazy, crazy stuff! Oh, and the narwhal was there! So much fun.

Well, my feet and my back are killing me and it's time to quickly post this and get some sleep for day two.

We got Osric for a 2nd day! Problem was this panel wasn't as good as Friday's IMO. Too many weird questions and people asking him for relationship advice. WTH???

These were taken with my smaller Canon camera and are not the greatest quality. My normal practice is to take a few shots with this camera at the beginning of each panel or whatever and then switch to my bigger Canon camera for the rest. And sadly, I was having a lot of trouble finding the right settings for the smaller camera this time around. I don't know if it was the lighting they were using or what. A lot of these photos have been fixed by me because they were so dark and/or had an orange color cast. The fixed ones have an "x" at the end of the filename. There's a lot of blurriness, too, but I took out the worst offenders. There's a few good gems here and there though. Hopefully, you'll still find these pics enjoyable. :)

Adorable Osric and then Briana & Kim take the stage together.

It's the SNS finale, paying tribute to Prince and capping off another memorable evening. Yep, Jensen joined Rob and the gang and I was so happy we got to see him on stage one last time that night. :)

You knew this video was coming, right? ;)
No Friday Night Karaoke is complete without Supernatural's unofficial theme song.

raloria: (Default)
Second only to "Carry On Wayward Son" as a must-have song for Friday Night Karaoke, is "Eye Of The Tiger". Always fun to sing along to that song! Didn't get all of the 2nd Bon Jovi song of the night, so it's only about the last minute.

raloria: (Default)
Spent the night uploading the remaining Karaoke videos to youtube.
Lots of fun with the Bon Jovi song from the show and the narwhal on stage was a huge hit with the crowd. Even Matt Cohen wouldn't let that person leave the stage! Great to have surprise guests Erica Carroll and Brendan Taylor show up to join in the fun.

raloria: (Default)
So who knew this cast could rap so well? I'm not a big fan of rap music, but I can appreciate those who are good at it (or at least make a good effort - it ain't all that easy, after all). It was great to have Erica Carroll and Tyler Johnston show up to join in on the fun.

A couple more videos, with many more to come.
Only got the tail end of the first song (Sorry!), but check out how Death dances! and "Shake It Off" is fast becoming a SPN Karaoke staple. :)

raloria: (Default)
Been getting more videos ready & uploaded and have the first 6 from the Friday Night Karaoke ready to go. So here's the first two: Rob & Matt kick things off with "Jessie's Girl" and then Briana shows off her rapping skills with "Shoop". Enjoy! :D

Ok, the con is over but I have some catching up to do, since Saturday was very long and I couldn't post about it last night. I want to get this all typed up before I forget!

Saturday began with the sexy wildman of the SPN cast: Sebastian Roche. He didn't disappoint (if you've seen his panels in the past you know how raunchy they can get). However, IMO he wasn't as bad as years past. He actually engaged the audience with a lot of singing and dancing over sexual material. Oh, and slamming Donald Trump. It was fun.

Next up was a 2nd panel by Osric and this one really wasn't as good as his Friday one. Not because of him, but because people were asking such weird questions, like on relationship advice and how to get over a break-up. What???? This is what you ask a SPN actor??? Sheesh! Anyway, he did his best with the awkward situation of it all.

After that I had my photo-ops with Briana and then another with Briana & Kim and they went quite well. They're such great gals!

There was some down time after that so I just hung out with friends. This would happen again after the next panel. It's weird not having a bunch of photo-ops to get to where you're just busy, busy, busy all the time. It's nice, but....different and in some ways I wish I didn't have all that spare time because I'd love to be seeing someone's panel instead. But I digress....

Mark Sheppard's panel was wonderful as always. I never tire of Mark talking about the fandom and how much the actors all feed off of us and our creative works and desire to help others as much as we feed off of their work. He really does understand and truly appreciates what fandom does and has the power to do. Then his wife and baby daughter came into the room and you never heard so many "awws" as when he picked her up and walked around the room. They were ADORABLE! I've got some great photos of them. :)

After some more down time Matt Cohen and Rob Benedict had their panel. It was fun watching them without Rich's influence. Even they noted how much more affectionate they were with one another, which I guess Richard doesn't tolerate. LOL They were funny and very sweet!

Immediately following them was Misha Collins. As always, hilarity ensued, but there were also some really insightful moments as well. At least that's what I think I remember. Right now I've got Sunday's Misha panel on my mind and that one was very different!

Got autographs from Mark Sheppard, who was going very fast...I guess because he had to set up his drums for the Saturday Night Special. I had him sign the black metal Impala that Jensen, Jared, Misha, and Jim Beaver have already signed. All Mark said was that he should be in the trunk...which at first I didn't get and told him that he was in the trunk in the one episode...9x01 wasn't it? Anyway, afterwards I realized he was saying his signature should have been on the trunk. I had him sign one of the back doors and Jim had signed the trunk. Sorry, Mark! Just didn't work out that way.

Next there was the whole debacle over getting Matt and Misha's autos. Originally we were told to go from Mark's line to Matt's, but then a few of us were later directed over into Misha's line. Problem was that he was taking a long time and his line soon grew to go all along the side and back of the room and over onto the other side. Matt's line wasn't much shorter - at first. And then we found out Misha hadn't even arrived yet! So there we were, standing for 15-20 min. and he wasn't even in the room! Eventually, he arrived and the line began to move, but meanwhile Matt was making progress with his line and right near getting close to having Misha sign I had to jump over to Matt's line instead. In fact, I was the last person in his line. Sadly, I couldn't think of much to say to him. I just thanked him for being there again...*facepalms*

I kinda failed on Misha's auto as well. By the time I got up there he just asked how I was doing and I returned the question and that was about it. *sigh* Sometimes you just can't make the moment more meaningful than that. *shrugs*

After having some supper, I returned to the con for the big event - The Saturday Night Special!
I won't go into all the songs, but there were a lot of them and it was another amazing night of music from Louden Swain and the gang! Matt, Kim, Osric, Briana, Sebastian, and Jensen all sang songs with Mark joining in on drums, and Chris playing bass on a song. We were treated to Jensen singing 2 songs this year! He sang "Fare Thee Well" with Rob - the best version I've heard yet, as I've watched the Jailbreak videos of them from Italy and felt they were a little off. This time they had great harmony. It was beautiful! Then Jensen was joined by Jason Manns as they did a much more acoustic version of "Simple Man" that is going to be on Jason's upcoming album. It was almost a little bit better than the version he sang last year, but they were so different, I'm not sure comparing them is even fair. They were both fine performances. :D

Rob sang "She Waits", which is always beautiful and emotional. You could feel all the love from the audience and Rob returning it back to us. They closed out the show with everyone on stage singing "Purple Rain". It was just an epic night of music, family, and friendship. When I got back to my room, my hearing was fuzzy, but I was a happy fangirl.

I have video of nearly all the songs from Saturday night and I will be posting them over the next few weeks. :D

I should be going to bed, but I had to make a quick report of day one of VanCon. :)

We started Friday with Julian Richings, who is funny and adorable (and sporting a missing tooth!). Followed by the heavenly voice of Jason Manns during his "Quoncert" (Questions with a concert) and I got on video him singing "Perfect Spot" *swoons* :) and another song.

He was quickly followed by Osric Chau and a lot of his panel covered his current obsession with Pokemon Go and of course the full story behind him wearing that dress to the recent Leo Awards.

Then we had a very long, but fun panel of our 2 hosts of the weekend: Briana Buckmaster and Kim Rhodes! They answered questions and introduced the Wayward Games, which was very funny and totally keeping with the Porncouver theme of the weekend. They also brought out a couple of surprise guests: Tyler Johnston (Samandriel) and Katherine Ramdeen (Alex) and they played the game as well.

After that it was photo-ops (which I decided to defer mine to tomorrow) and autographs.

Kim was first and I mentioned again her episode of Star Trek: Voyager because it was the first thing I saw of her. She said someone on the plane recognized her from that episode. I've always remembered how good she was in that ep. :)

Getting Osric's autograph, I asked him if he still played the guitar, and he said he did a little. And I brought up about him playing the guitar at VanCon a couple of years ago and the gal next to me remembered it too. Osric was pretty happy that we were there and remembered that night. He said, "That's right! It was the first Saturday Night Special." Apparently he wasn't even going to go on stage that night, but probably with the other guests urging, he did. He said that was another time when he was glad he just made the decision to do something and see what happened - something that he talked about in his panel.

Julian's autograph was next and I mentioned to him that I was surprised that when Death was killed that it didn't stop people from dying in Season 11 like I had expected. He agreed it was unexpected and said that he could come back (which again he brought up during his panel).

Last was getting Briana's auto and I just told her I was happy Creation invited her this year so she didn't have to crash the party like last year. :)

After a couple of hours break to eat some supper it was back for Karaoke! Over 2 hours of standing, singing, screaming, and rocking!!! Fun times! Again, we had a couple of surprise guests: The guy was was Donna's "New Doug" from "Plush" (that guy can RAP!) and Erica Carroll! I've got lots of videos, so look for them over the coming weeks.

Btw, Creation needs to quit changing things at the last minute. Since when is Friday Night Karaoke not open and free for everyone to attend? They were stopping people at the door that didn't have a wristband, which I've never seen happen before. It was crazy! Thankfully, some did get in if they were recognized by a volunteer as a SPN fan and former VanCon attendee, but this was a bad move on Creation's part. Karaoke's been a free-for-all for a long time now and to suddenly change that, 2 hours before the event? Not cool!

Anyway, my feet are killing me and I've gotta get some sleep for Saturday's events.

If you haven't watched this video then...what are you waiting for???
So happy that Rob Benedict finally got this video done and uploaded for all of fandom to enjoy. And a big thanks to Osric for uploading it right away to youtube.

Some observations: The numbers for the guys are their ages (how cute is that???), had no idea Jason Manns was younger than Jensen, even in this setting Jensen & Jared seemed to be the leaders with one of them always tackling an obstacle first and then helping the others, loved all the fist-bumps, encouragement, and looking out for one another shown by all the guys, Osric's smiles throughout the entire video, "Underwear Gate" (What the??? LOL!), Rich saying Jensen "gets bitchy" around mile 6 (LOL!), Jensen & Jason fixing the parking sign, and the pics at the end with Gen & Danneel there w/muddy shirts from hugging their husbands after the race. :)

And my favorite part: That Jensen & Jared scaled the walls like they do that every day on the set of Supernatural and twice on Wednesdays.

Lots of caps... )

raloria: (Default)
Osric sings this song by Dashboard Confessional. I must admit to wondering what happened to Osric's learning to play guitar? At VanCon 2014 we got to hear him play and he was getting fairly good.
