Been a while since I've put up this info.

Besides being here on LJ I'm also on Twitter. Look me up and follow if you like.
Keep in mind I tend to promptly block anyone who follows me with a name I don't recognize, so if you think this will be a problem, please leave a comment here to let me know, okay? Also, if I block you by mistake, please let me know & I'll fix it.

I'm raloria0613 on Twitter. :D

I also have a 2nd LJ for my filmmaking experiences & knowledge. I don't update it as often as I should, but I hope to post some cool stuff up there soon. That journal is completely F-locked.

My filmmaking journal is under the username [livejournal.com profile] scriptgoddess.
Add me and I'll add you back. :)

For those of you who are new to my flist, I also run the LJ community [livejournal.com profile] jensenhappiness.

Normally I'd be posting my First Impressions review of 5x04 right now, but it's going to be delayed for a day or two.

Due to my LJ drama this week, I've fallen into a bit of a depression. I've hurt people, I've made bad decisions, and I haven't been a very good LJ friend. I apologize to those I've hurt and neglected. Changes need to be made and I'm still trying to figure everything out.

I did watch and enjoy the episode, but I can't find it in myself to type up a review right now. Later tonight I'll be attending the premiere of a film I worked on last year and I'll see what I can do when I get home. Hopefully I'll be in better spirits by then.

Regularly scheduled posts (Name That Cap Challenge & Just 'Cause) will continue as usual.
I thank you all for your patience & understanding.

It's a warm afternoon, I'm knee-deep in my SPN Locations list hunt, and I need some diversion.

As many of you know, I work in the independent film industry in the Seattle, WA area as a Script Supervisor. I have several films under my belt and I love filmmaking!

So I thought I'd open the floor to questions.

Ask me anything about filmmaking: technical stuff, my experiences, whatever you're curious about. :D

:*: Spent a few hours outside Saturday night videotaping and photographing the neighborhood 4th of July fireworks. Somehow it didn't seem to be as good a show as last year. Maybe the bad economy finally got to everyone and forced them to cut back. I noticed there weren't as many fireworks stands around the area selling them this year. Anyway, the video is mighty skimpy on the fireworks this time, but I'll transfer it to the laptop anyway and see if there's something that can be made from it. I experimented with my new DSLR camera, too - with mixed results. I'll be posting some of the better ones soon.

:*: I also recorded the Macy's Fireworks Spectacular from NYC & Seattle's own Fireworks show from Lake Union off the TV. The NY one was huge, with largely traditional marches and Americana-type music provided by a live orchestra. The Seattle show was recorded music that was eclectic to say the least. Everything from Beethoven to Prince and Disney film music. We do things differently out here. :D The fireworks were very cool...for both shows, yet individually unique.

:*: One of the stupidest things I saw the other night? A couple and their young boy walked past me as I was videotapping the fireworks. He was around 8, maybe 10. He was also lighting off small fireworks as they walked. I didn't think much of it until they passed me and the kid threw one of the fireworks where it almost went off under a neighbor's car! Yikes! The parents didn't say anything, btw. Gah! People are so irresponsible. No wonder kids get their hands blown off every year by these things! /rant

:*: Okay, on to the big update...I've reconciled with my flister who defriened me last week. I PM-ed her and she was all upset over not being around on LJ much anymore and not commenting enough. I told her that doesn't bother me at all and I'm not going to condemn people on my flist for not commenting often when I can't even do that myself. Long story short...we're friends again and all is well. Now I feel kinda silly making such an epic deal over the whole thing. Drama queen? Much? *sigh* On the other hand, I was very upset by her cutting me, so I was being true to my feelings at that time. You gotta take me as I am, folks. :)

:*: The second film I worked on last summer (as Script Supervisor) is in post-production now. The director has even joined Facebook to help promote the movie. The website for the film hit the web yesterday and I'll post the link for you all soon. From the Press Kit on the site, it looks like there's some interest and it might get distribution! Awesome! More details to come! :D

Saturday afternoon I went to the little premiere of the film I worked on last summer...now called "Of Yesterday And Tomorrow" (and formerly known to some of you as "Long Time Gone"). I had my uncle drop me off (driving our car with my mom & aunt along) outside the Central Cinema in Seattle. There were lots of people there, some I knew and some I didn't. We ended up waiting long past the scheduled start time because there were technical difficulties. They ended up playing the film through the editor's laptop onto the big screen, but in the end it worked fairly well.

Anyway, we did a lot of standing, first outside the theater and then a bit inside. Then I spotted some friends (crew members) from the film and went to talk to them. It helped pass the time, sharing stories about vacations and other work projects. I talked a lot with Jordan, who was our assistant cameraman. He's just a bundle of energy, this guy! He can totally talk your ear off! LOL So we hung out and once we got inside we decided to sit together, so it was nice to be with someone during the film.

Once inside and seated we had to wait again. This is a dinner theater and one waitress was going around taking people's orders (she never did get to our row, btw, but it was cool 'cause I didn't want anything anyway). So that took another half hour! The show was supposed to start at 3:00, but it didn't actually start until a little after 4.

The film though, looked great! It's so awesome to see something you helped create come together as a whole piece. The director/writer/producer, M. Korolenko, warned us ahead of time that it wasn't completely finished, but just about everything was done. Outside of one missing sound effect and a few awkward music cues, it looked great to me. It all worked, the story, the acting, all of it. And me being me, I was checking my own work as well, trying to see if I could find any continuity errors. I'm happy to say I didn't find any and if I couldn't spot them, I'm sure nobody else did either.

I found myself reminiscing as the film played. I could remember clearly certain days and moments, mostly revolving around how hot it was shooting certain scenes because we were either out in the hot summer sun, or inside a completely closed up house. But the audience laughed at the right times and you could feel the emotional moments hit them too. After the film, there was a brief Q & A with the director and the reactions were all positive. It made all of us who worked on the film feel very good!

Everyone slowly trickled out of the building, saying goodbye and I called for my relatives to come pick me up. Then I met with an old friend while I waited.

The guy I didn't expect to see at all yesterday.... )

The first independent film I worked on last summer (doing continuity) is having it's premiere at a little theater in Seattle this afternoon! Yay!!! *happy dances* I can't wait to see what it looks like, mingle with the cast and crew again. Will report more later. :D

Since I'm treating this as my "catch-up" day, I thought I'd do this meme at long last.

Association Meme: Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

I'll try my best to give people 5 things of their own to write about, but I make no guarantees.

My five subjects behind the cut... )

I thought I'd mention that I finally finished that film production Photo Project I've been working on for months.

I mailed the DVDs off yesterday! I'm free! I'm free!!!!!! *happy dances* :D

Why can't people go to a SPN con and enjoy what opportunity it gives them? Why does it have to develop into wank online?

This is just the latest thing, but it's the final straw for me. I've got to say my piece. This is not going to just cover the latest Danneel bashing, but the Gen bashing as well.

My opinions on the current wank... )

I'm all messed up. Working on organizing our massive DVD collection all Monday does that to me I guess. Then I watched my normal Monday night programs, Dancing With The Stars and the new series Castle. I'm now signed up to vote for DWTS after all these seasons of being just a passive viewer. I have no absolute favorite so far, it's too early. Meanwhile, I liked this episode of Castle even more than the Pilot, though I'm starting to feel as I saw mentioned somewhere that Susan Sullivan's character of his mother seems out of place and unneeded. The daughter's fine, but the mom has to go, I think.

[livejournal.com profile] stolenglimpse and I worked together to try and figure out the mystery and confusion surrounding screencaps, aspect ratios, and resolutions. It took some time, but I think we each found answers for our own individual cap problems. Now that's some awesome teamwork! *high fives* \0/ Long story short? I can see now that the resolution for all of my DA caps is off. Yikes. Fixing them isn't a huge deal, but re-posting the new ones is. This is now on my long-term To-Do list. Ugh. :(

Took my walk after 3 days of not walking, but got home & then forgot to post about it. Ooops. So I guess this is my post....after a fashion. Anyway, the weather cleared up long enough for me to take my walk and while it was still cold and a bit blustery, it wasn't too bad. I sure did feel tired once I came home though. I guess missing 3 days had a big effect!

Oh, and thanks to [livejournal.com profile] growyourwings's encouragement I added Jim Beaver as a friend on Facebook! And he added me back Monday afternoon! Woot! I went ahead and then added a few of my filmmmaking contacts in the area. I also started looking for other friends, past classmates, filmmaking buddies, etc. One friend led to another friend and so on. I only added a couple of people, but one of them already added me back. I even ended up on MySpace and toyed with joining up there, but I'm not quite ready yet, so I held back on that for now.

Man...I'm so tired right now. I didn't get back to replying to comments *iz bad LJ friend* and now it's time to scramble and get my icon & cap posts up before I rush off to bed. I hope the rest of my Tuesday is a little more...normal?

To those who are concerned about the rest of SPN this season, I have this bit of screenwriting wisdom I picked up from my film classes.

This is basically the blueprint for storytelling, the 3 Act Structure:

1) Get your character up in a tree.
2) Throw rocks at him.
3) Then get him out of the tree.

Dean & Sam are in the "up in a tree" stage. Problem is...they're in separate trees. And those rocks being hurled at them are big, heavy, and inflicting a lot of damage, especially to Dean. Eventually they will get out of those trees. It's simply a matter of time.

Somebody kill me now.

Sent an email to the director to let him know how the photo project was going. Asked him a question. He sends back an email which sounds like he no longer wants a list describing each photo....he wants a brief description in the filename for each photo. Gaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

And he didn't answer my question. *sigh*

I swear....he is so vague about what he wants. He'll give me these little hints. I want this and this. When he really should be giving me more detail about exactly what he wants me to do!

So I've just emailed him back trying to clear up this whole mess. I even took a screenshot showing some of the photos in a folder and then my text file list of descriptions. Before he told me he wanted scene numbers on everything, now he doesn't even mention that! Here I am, almost done with this thing and he throws another obstacle at me! Why? Why can't he just tell me exactly what he wants? Why does it have to be such a struggle to get this info. out of the guy???? I'm trying to do a good job, but he's making it soooo difficult! *pulls out hair*

I know the guy's busy and doesn't want to take a lot of time typing out an email, but would it kill him to simply take a moment and type more than 5 words as to what he wants???? I know it's sort of a male thing to be vague, but this is getting ridiculous.

I have a second LJ, [livejournal.com profile] scriptgoddess, some of you already know about it.

I did have plans of shutting it down, but I'm going to keep it and institute a whole new sense of purpose. It already has a new layout and other changes are in store. :)

Anyway, this other LJ is for my filmmaking adventures, film history, technical stuff about filmmaking, and more. But most of all it's for talking about my work in independent films as a Script Supervisor.

This doesn't mean I won't ever talk about filmmaking here, it just means the the more in-depth stuff will be over at [livejournal.com profile] scriptgoddess. The journal is Friends Only and all posts over there are Flocked.

[livejournal.com profile] scriptgoddess

To those of you who took [livejournal.com profile] scriptgoddess off your Flist before, I hope you'll consider adding me back on. Sorry about all the indecision, but I've now figured out a way to make these two journals work together...hopefully. :P

Thanks everyone! :D

I've noticed that for at least the last 2 episodes, the directors have been miss-labeled by various comms and websites. I don't know what's going on here, but people....please get it right.

4x11 "Family Remains" was directed by Phil Sgriccia NOT Kim Manners

4x12 "Criss Angel Is A Douche Bag" was directed by Robert Singer NOT Phil Sgriccia

I get my info. from the credits on the episode itself and not a website or comm, btw.

Sorry to sound bitchy, but I like info. to be correct and when I see people posting with the wrong info. it really bothers me. Chalk it up to a pet peeve of mine.

I did get to bed earlier the other night. Yay! Me! And I had a much better, productive day on Tuesday because of it. Now to repeat that again and keep this up....that's the hard part.

Got the DVD of my 1,000 + photos of the film production sorted, renamed, & burned to a disc for the web designer. I'll be mailing that off later today. I still have to make a list of those photos, fix the ones that are too dark or whatever, and burn those to another DVD to send to the director. Told him I'd have his done by the end of this month.

In the director's exact words "the pictures on the DVD will be used in press kits and magazine articles so you should get plenty of press yourself as a photographer." Eeeep! So now I'm going to be known as a photographer???? Kinda scary when all I have is a little point-and-shoot digital camera and no actual technical knowledge about photography. All I know is what I learned from my dad. He was a very good amateur photographer and I really feel I got my talent (if you wanna call it that) from him. In fact, more than ever I feel like he's with me when I take photos. Like he's right by my shoulder, making sure I get the good shots. :) Makes me feel like I still have a connection to him even though he's gone. Guess I'm going to have to get myself a good digital SLR camera soon!

SPN Vancouver Con seat number info - hidden for those who don't wanna read... )
In other news....I spent a little time adding 4 more Mood Themes to my LJ. Two are of Jensen in DA as Alec, a J2 one, and a SPN one for seasons 1-3. This now gives me 17 custom Mood Themes to choose from. Obsessed much? Nah! Hee! :P

:: Zzzzzzzzz.....so sleepy today. I just wanna curl up in a toasty blanket and sleep until I can't stand it anymore. Bah. I hate being this groggy. I know I need to change my sleep habits, but it's soooooo hard to do. :(

:: Vancouver Con tickets are selling fast! Yikes. The latest news: "The Gold Weekend Packages for Vancouver are about 3/4 sold out as of the morning of January 14. Photo Ops with Jensen and Jared are about 50% sold out."

Damn. Looks like I'm going to have make my ultimate decision about going sooner rather than later. At least as far as the Photo Ops go. Been checking out cheaper hotels nearby & there are a couple of good possibilities. Now I just have to run some final numbers for expenses & prove to my mom that this is doable and that I'm determined to go.

:: I'm so behind in all the Jensen/MBV stuff that I want to post. I hate being behind. :(

:: I started thinking about my movie script today, which I haven't done for over a year, I think. Scenes were popping into my head. Guess my Crazy Muse is putting off writing those fanfic sequels again. :P

:: I've given a deadline to the movie director that I'll have my photos all listed & on DVD for him by the end of this month. Eeep. Would it be surprising to anyone that I still haven't started yet? *sigh* The task is so daunting that I'm avoiding it, but I can't do that forever. Maybe once I take a nap I'll be motivated to start today. Yep, classic procrastinator here. *raises hand*

:: I'm seriously considering making a big post today. I'll let you guess as to which one it is. Hee. ;)

I'm going to eat my late lunch, take a nap, and then see what mischief I can get myself into. Heh.

raloria: (Default)
:: We haz SNOW!!!!!! It's been coming down all day and we've got 2 and half inches! I took some pics and will post later. :)

:: Still bouncing (internally) over the Vancouver Con. Even found and joined the new comm [livejournal.com profile] sn_vancouvercon. I'm also making a mental pro/con list, because I'm still trying to figure out if this is even possible.

:: Finally got the pics that the director wanted. They're going to go up on his film company website, so once that happens I'll probably link you guys to it so you can learn more of what I've been working on for the past 3 months. :)

:: Still considering getting a MySpace page. Goodness knows that's how a lot of people in the film community around here keep in touch with each other. I should probably join in because since I live outside of Seattle I tend to be out of the loop on what's going on as far as productions go. If I do join MySpace, it'll be early next year, as right now I simply don't have the time.

:: I still want a digital SLR camera. Haven't had a chance to do any serious looking except online and in magazines. My little Kodak digital cam is good, but it has its limitations and I want something bigger, better, and a bit more professional. Heck, if the director of this last film is going to give me credit as a photographer and start putting my photos up online, I might have to look at this as another career opportunity.

:: I'm still working on sending out more Christmas E-cards. If you haven't already be sure to leave me your email addy at this post so I can send you one. :D

:: Been trying to put a new string of lights on our tree all evening. We bought some of those new LED lights after the string that came with the tree fitzed out on us. Now I know why my dad always swore so much while lighting our real trees all those years....it's a damned frustrating job! Doesn't help that they put the lights so close together. Grrrrrrrr.

:: Haven't even started on the Xmas letter or addressing cards to send out to relatives yet. *sigh*

:: Filming might be over, but I'm still working....with my photos. The director has me choosing pics from my collection for the film's website, making a list of all my photos, burning some DVDs for him with all my photos....gah!

:: We're supposed to get more snow starting tonight. Then it's supposed to snow all day tomorrow (Wed) into Thursday morning. Temps are staying in the 20s and getting into the teens at night - unusually cold for Western WA.

:: We're still the only house at this end of the street with any lights up outside (well, inside the windows, anyway). Bah. Not much Christmas spirit in the neighborhood this year, it seems. :(

:: I'm way behind in almost everything...real life stuff, LJ stuff, film work stuff, Christmas stuff. It's all ganging up on me, which might explain my gloominess the past few days, which has yet to really lift. :(

raloria: (Default)
ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz....so sleepy/tired. It's been quite a day/night. Run, run, run the whole time.

:: Didn't find out about the change in filming location Saturday until that very morning. Which meant I really had to scramble. Luckily the new location was easy to get to. Showed up about 10 min. late to find only a few people there. We ended up waiting an hour for the director, actress, and camera operator to arrive! Gah! Kinda frustrating. And then they really didn't need me. About 45 minutes later and with 3 quick shots we were done. *sigh*

:: Drove home, which took about an hour. Printed out the 9 photos I took that day, picked up some fast food for supper, and then ended up rushing to finish getting ready because my mom was hogging the bathroom.

:: Showed up to the Wrap Party a little after 7 p.m. and only a few people were there! We ended up waiting a good hour before a few others showed up. Then we all waited until after 10 p.m. for the director to finally arrive. He had put together a little clip-fest of some scenes from the film, so we'd all been waiting in anticipation. The footage looked great and we were all very pleased. I was relieved to see a shot I messed up on (by taking a photo when I shouldn't have) came out just fine. I felt very relieved that he was able to save that shot, because we really have no way to re-shoot it, due to the actress cutting her hair.

:: All in all, it was a fun Wrap Party, even though not everyone showed up. :( There was food, drinks, and lots of chatting and reminiscing.

Mmmm....ugh. I haz fuzzy brain and all I really want to do is curl up and sleep. That's what happens when you're functioning on only 3 hours sleep....and a bizarre dream about the Wrap Party that I gotta admit was more exciting than the party itself turned out to be. Heh. Ah, well....that's dreams for you. *shrugs*

Anyhoo...production on the film is now finished. Up to the director to edit it all and he's looking to have it finished by June. Technically, I'm still not done. I've got to burn 2 DVDs of all my photos (over 1,500 of them!) and make a list describing each and every one. What fun! It's a monumental task, but the director needs this done for whoever is going to take care of publicity.

Am also starting to strongly consider getting a MySpace for myself. So many people on the film have them, including (I found out tonight) the director himself. It seems to be the main way a lot of them stay in contact with each other and also get more contacts that lead to projects.

I'm gonna go hunt down an Impala cap for today's Just 'Cause and then I'm gonna get some much needed sleep.
